THE CONTEXT: A PROFESSIONAL NETWORK IN NEED OF A DIGITAL HUB

Vétérinaires Vaudois is the official directory of veterinary practices operating in the canton of Vaud, Switzerland. Serving both the general public and the veterinary profession itself, the platform had a dual purpose from the outset: help pet owners and farmers find the right specialist quickly, and provide a dedicated space for the local veterinary community to connect and collaborate.

The project required building a purpose-built platform from scratch — one that could handle geolocation-based search, professional directory management and a formal mediation process, all within a secure and reliable hosting infrastructure.

OUR APPROACH: A MULTI-AUDIENCE PLATFORM BUILT FOR CLARITY AND TRUST

1. INTERACTIVE MAP AND ADVANCED SEARCH

At the heart of the platform, we developed a powerful search experience that lets users find the right practice in seconds:

• Interactive map: all veterinary practices in the canton of Vaud are plotted on a live map, giving users an immediate geographic overview of available services near them.
• Location-based search: users can search by town, postcode or their current location to surface the closest practices.
• Specialty filtering: results can be narrowed by area of expertise (small animals, equine, exotic species, livestock, etc.), ensuring users reach the right specialist for their needs.

2. PROFESSIONAL NETWORKING FOR THE VETERINARY COMMUNITY

Beyond the public-facing directory, the platform includes a dedicated space for vets to connect with one another within the cantonal network:

• Professional profiles: each practice has a detailed listing showcasing services, specialities, contact details and opening hours.
• Peer networking: registered practitioners can connect with colleagues across the network — facilitating referrals, case discussions and professional collaboration.

3. MEDIATION SERVICE FOR CLIENT-VET DISPUTES

One of the platform’s most distinctive features is its integrated mediation module — a formal channel for members of the public to seek resolution in the event of a dispute with a veterinary practice:

• Structured request process: a guided submission form allows individuals to file a mediation request clearly and with all necessary context.
• Transparent routing: requests are directed to the appropriate mediator within the network, ensuring a fair and professional handling of each case.

4. HOSTING SETUP ON JELASTIC

We managed the full infrastructure setup on the Jelastic cloud platform, chosen for its flexibility and reliability:

• Scalable environment: Jelastic’s container-based architecture allows resources to scale with traffic, ensuring consistent performance without over-provisioning.
• Secure configuration: SSL, server hardening and environment isolation configured from the ground up to meet the data security expectations of a professional healthcare-adjacent platform.
